I'm not ready to stop riding just yet, so I'm leaving tomorrow on a trip to AZ and CA. I've put 2,300 miles on the bike since August 15th and most likely will need tires by the time I'm hitting the CA twisties. Can someone recommend a good tire source for a set of Road 4's? I'll be visiting some cousins in the Oceanside area around mid October.

Well, there are many places, however, the House of Motorcycles in Vista should have those tires in stock...and that is pretty close to O'town as well. If they do not have them, they could just order them to you and have them in a couple of days usually. There are a couple of M/C stores in Oceanside, however, I cannot vouch for them. They are Oceanside Cycle Supply, and Motorcycle Gallery. We also have places called "Cycle Gear" and the nearest one from Oceanside is about 20 or so miles east in San Marcos. They normally have a decent inventory of tires, and they will change tires "off bike only" though.

Another idea is to buy them online and have them shipped to your cousins house in Oceanside, then take your wheels off and take them into House of Motorcycles. It would most likely save you a few bucks, plus it would guarantee you have the tire that you want.

Let me know if you run into trouble or have any issues. I live around the Mira Mesa area (just north of Airstation Miramar) in San Diego.

    Happy trails.

Derstuka nailed it. I'm a further north, but if there is something I can help with, let me know.

Thanks, guys. Ordering online from Revzilla could save over a hundred off of the House of M/C's online store price.

Probably too late to mention this, but you can always ship the tires to me and we can do the tire change and balance at my place. I've got a tire changer and balancer. Ask Scuba, easy breezy and only cost you a couple of IPA! I'm about 70 miles North of Oceanside but hey, you're taking a trip to So Cal anyway right?

If you haven't ordered yet, these guys have great prices and free shipping too. Them and Revzilla both have good prices. If your tavels take you through Los Angeles Wheels In Motion www,wheelsinmotionmc.com have some excellent prices and ride in ride out, but I think I like OOTV's offer better.

Just let me know...I've already have one friend planning to send tires my way, if we time it right everyone can get their tires done on the same day! Although by the time we're done I'll be too drunk to ride :drinkers:

If anybody takes Mr OOTVS up on his very kind offer...please do not forget that he actually has to pay to dispose of each tire that he removes. It usually costs $2.00 a tire to dispose of for the most part. You could also take them back home and dispose of them yourself.

Thanks for the offer OOTV. I may take you up on the offer of installation. I found the tires at Let IT Ride in Lakewood CO at $129 front & $169 rear, cheaper than the internet prices. Since I'm trailering along the Interstates & doing one or two day excursions from my stops, I'll have the tires with me. If we had more daylight hours, I'd ride all the way, however, with the van & trailer set up, I'll be more comfortable and enjoy the riding time much more. Also I'll have a computer for whatever work I might have to address. Also, I plan on stopping in to see the Laminar Lip folks in Santa Ana to see what they have that will fit the '14.

PM me with your phone # or email & I'll look you up when I get to CA.

Thanks Stuka for the reminder. I think I mentioned it before too. If my take offs have enough tread I donate them to anyone who needs tires to hold them over until they can afford a new set, otherwise the tire center down the road has charged me $2 per the last few times I went.
