Hey guys and gals, I look forward to talking to all of you! I am new to this site and although i ride a Yamaha R6, I am going to be fixing up my dads '84 VFR500 Interceptor for him as a bit of a favor. I have spent many years trying to get this bike off of him, so I could fix it up and have a bike for myself when I was old enough to get my license, but he just wouldnt let it go! Well eventually I bought a brand new bike of my own (2006 Yamaha R6) and so ive been riding that for a couple years now. The time has come that my dad started thinking about fixing his Interceptor up again so that we could go riding together but he doesnt have the space or time to do it. I recently bought myself a house with an attached garage, and so im going to bring the bike to my house and fix it up for him :) I am a licensed automotive mechanic with huge interests and experience with motorcycles as well. The Interceptor only has about 9000km on it and was only insured for about 2 years until the mufflers rusted out, and he never had the money at the time to replace them. Fortunately the bike has been stored indoors and has been run every couple years. Its just going to need a good going over and some new parts no doubt! Hopefully this will be a good resource tool for me. I look forward to hearing from anyone with advice. Thank you, talk to you all soon. Ride Safe!

Well Son....Maybe if you had gone out and cut the lawn a few times, he may have gone and given it to you. Just pulling your leg Bud.

Welcome to the site. Gave my son a '92 Jimmy in mint condition. I ordered this thing from the factory. Now it looks like shit. Can I adopt you and have you come and fix that up?

In my former career, I spent 11 years on the island, the last 9 in Campbell River. Definitely had a tear in my eye when I left there. Guaranteed, there is a road trip in my future over there. There are a few over there on the Island. We should set up a ride sometime up island, maybe over to Port Alberni and up to Long Beach. I am up for an overnighter sometime this summer or fall. COuld probably convince a couple of the usuals from the LMD to join as well.

Sure that sounds awesome! As long as you guys dont mind me riding on a Yamaha R6, as the Interceptor won't near be done by then ;) An overnighter would be cool, maybe even plan a camping trip if the weather is good.

Ahh yes, I almost forgot... although im sure they have the code cracked by now. Maybe we can offer them some timmies and invite them up to our igloos for a bike meet! ;)
