Got this sound when spinning the rear wheel..

Sounds like it comes from front sprocket area

    Or something is touching inside...

The bike shifts fine, pulls fine...

Think the sound has escalated since clutch work some months ago

Have you checked the front sprocket to see if there is abnormal play with the sprocket and/or shaft? Seems too loud to be that, but I think that needs to get addressed first.

The sound isn’t present now the bike is cold..

Just span the wheel here in the morning

Or at least it’s very subtle

If I slack the chain, can it be lifted of the front sprocket..?

If the knocking sound is only present when warm, is there any reason to look at it when cold?

Can we assume that you spun the rear wheel after you got the covers off? Any noticeable shifting/sounds while you do that?

I ran out of time and had to assemble it again.. will try tomorrow..

    I think it’s the chain..

Tried rolling it in 1st gear... but at that time I had also slackened the chain a bit, as some mentioned it could be a too tight chain.. but it does wobble a bit

It tightens up when revving it, it becomes more stable...
