I finally got a new bike and now I need to do some work to my old VF. I need new spark plug wires and coils. One of my coils went out and I just want to replace both and the plug wires all together. I'm having an impossible time looking on Google. Does anyone know a place to get plug wires and coils?

    Thank you for the suggestions

Bikebarn doesn't have coils or plug wires

I'm in Yuma but next time I head up to the Phoenix area I'll look up that salvage yard.

cmsnl.com has coils but they are out of the US so shipping might be crazy. I'll get a quote though.

Bikebandit.com has only one size plug wire. I might get away with just replacing the rears (the one they have is the longer rear and I can use them for both sides). My fronts are alright but I wanted to replace everything.

Anyone else know of a place to get these parts or a similar bike that would use the same parts? I know the Magna used the same coils but can't find those either. I'll check with the local dealership and see what they can get.

If the wires are not molded into the coils, you can buy bulk replacement wire at NAPA, etc. off a roll. Be sure to get only the wire core, not suppression wire.

Note: Honda used highest-quality wire for original ignition, and you willl not be able to meet or exceed its quality. Seriously, i doubt that your wires are unservicable unless you see obvious damage like cracks in the insulation or rodent nibbles.

Honda used the same coils since Eisenhower, so lots are in salvage yards.

On one of the rears the wire pulled out of the boot and the other the boot has a tear almost all the way around. I just feel better replacing all of them as a set. If I can find used rear wires I will snatch them up. There is a coil plus wires on Ebay right now for $40 but one of the boots is cut. I'm not doubting that it is good and I'm thinking about placing a bid since it will solve both my problems.

However, if I do end buying plug wires what do people think of these: Parts Unlimited | Street Catalog?

I'll keep an eye out for a used coil. I think I'm just going to buy the one on Ebay and hope for the best though. Thank you for the help.

Yeah, the plug wires can be replaced with plain ol' 8mm wires available through any Parts Unlimited dealer. Coils are another story, if you want to spend the money on aftermarket coils let me know and I can give you the correct part nunmber for the Accel coils. It's not obvious!

Thank you for confirming that those plug wires will work. I guess if I'm going to drop the money on new coils I should get aftermarket ones. I would appreciate the part number for them. I found your website awhile ago and I'm looking to maybe get a modified rear shock whenever I get around to fully restoring my bike. Still a ways off from that but I'm trying to keep it running for now. I don't want it to become a garage queen until I start taking it apart.

i thought that plug wires needed resistors. or is it just for the 84 vf1000f's?

The resistors are not necessary. Some claim power improvements if you remove them, but I've never noticed much of a difference.
