Well, First it was a fried stator wire, and ordered the repair kit from Wiremybike and ordered a new R/R for good safe measure. Got it on and the bike ran great for about a week, then all hell broke loose today when I went to Mulholland. On the way home the bike just dies :( right on the side of the 10 freeway. My buddy of course helped me out, and sure enough a Honda dealership was down the way. $80 for a new battery, which I thought was the problem. Well, 2 miles from my house 50+ miles later, the bike dies again. It just confirms that stator is shot. Road his bike to my house, got the truck, picked up the bike, and called it a day. I was calm and collective about it, knowing its day time and I wasn't stuck in the middle of no where with no help. With that, stator swaps are fairly easy since I've done them on my XR600. My question is, are the 94-97 VFR stators different from the 90-93 stators or are they interchangeable? And is there anything else I need to be aware of from replacing the stator on this bike? Much appreciated in advance for help and advice. And YES: I do have a VFRness installed :)
