Tapered O-rings for coolant pipes - which Way ?

Hi guys, I put new OEM O-rings (or D-rings or Seals or what ever they are) on the black coolant pipes for the VF1000R (4 of them). their contour / cross section isnt round its tapered. which way round do they go ?

Based on what I could find online and based on what I think that the orientation before (kinda flattened so hard to tell) installed them with the taper/narrower part facing out of the pipe and into the cylinders water jacket port, wider part facing out towards the pipe. Made it easy to slide in/install, but I want to be sure thats correct when it gets pressurized.

Figure I better check now before I get too far in. best to avoid leaks now.
