Has anyone done this on their 98-01 800 ? Anyone know where
I might find the bearings ? The top one is different (smaller)
    than the bottom one.
    TIA,
    S.

    Howdy,

I had this done on our 98 VFR and it made a big difference. Prior, the frontend had a bad shake. Since, it has been fine. The bike now has 55K miles on it. The swap was done at 16K. Just be sure you don't over tighten the bearings. You'll know you have if the bike wants to do a slow weave back and forth and you cannot seem to stop it. Just untighten a little at a time until this goes away.

As an interesting data point, my 01 VFR has 43K miles on it. It still has the OEM bearings from the factory and has had no trouble whatsoever. Luck of the draw I guess. ::)

    Have fun!

    Adios,

Thanks, mine's an '01 with just over 10K on it. I did the same to my '91 early on, worth the effort. Honda Part nos available for those interested:
    91015-425-832 upper bearing
    91016-371-000 lower bearing
    53214-371-010 lower seal
You can reuse the upper seal.
