Tapping noise for my engine

    Hi All,

    I have got a VFR800 year 2002 done 25000miles, sometimes when I start the bike up there is a loud tapping noise, if I turn the bike off and then restart the bike it goes. I can ride the bike with no tapping as soon as I open the bike up over 6550 revs then the tapping starts again, turn the bike off and restart it goes running fine again.

    Has any else had this problem or does anyone know what this could be.

    VTEC valves open up at that rpm. Maybe one of them needs adjusting or is partially stuck.
