    Hey guys -

I started up my '96 the other morning, and it was still a little chilly. Whenever I do this, the bike always will eventually start to blow steam out the tail pipe as it warms up (much like a car in the winter).

As I approached it, I noticed that steam was also blowing out the connection between the slip-on and the mid-pipe. A pretty good indication that the gasket is either MIA or has deteriorated to the point of failure.

I also have experienced a higher amount of the popping/snapping, and the occasional backfire on decel, which leads me to believe that it's pulling air in at this joint.

    My question is this:
Do I need a gasket there? If so, where would one source a new one? TBR?

I contacted TBR last year when I needed a new hangar for my pipe. Its an older model pipe that they no longer sell, but they worked with me in getting exactly what I needed. Can't hurt to give them a call.
