Hey guys...im currently in the market for a VFR..and i had found one..and i was just wondering...what would be the market value be for a 2002 VFR with about 29000 kms..that was rebuilt...im not exactly sure of the accident it had before..but the owner claims it was just a slip/fall and not a major accident...i did get the bike test ridden by a friend of mine who has a 2004 and he says everything is pretty much sound..except it didnt start..we had to boost it...apart from that i would like to get it checked out by a mechanic...so what do you guys think...about how much would be a fair price?

I'd like to hear what the accident was all about that cause it to be totaled, some tip overs are so expensive they get totaled when all there is plastic to be replaced, then there's what is it going for? wasn't it t Tori here that stole one that was a total?

Get him to do the mechanical at the shop of your chosing.

Agree to buy the bike if the estimated repairs to the bike fall under a certain $value. write it down.
this conferms to him you want the bike and you have essentially bought it pending it's inspection.

However should the bike has problems not known about such as a bent frame, cracks, or whatever your covered and can re-negotiate with him.
Also be aware that often by the time the repairs are done you may as well have bought a new one.

Peronally the first bike i almost bought was the first year of gen 6, rode it loved it but following the above advice from a friend the seller took it to the shop to find the radiator leaked, the frame was cracked, and one rotter was warped...he did admite to droping the bike and he also fixed it....bike look sound...

the total bill was more expensive than a new bike.
So i got a new bike in the color i liked..i just had to wait longer.
