I used Metzler M33 Lasers (now Lasertecs) on my original 84 VF1000F: and never had issue with them

The VF I recently bought has Dunlop Arrowmax GT501 and they seem fine in the 200 miles I've used them

I've read some decent reports on Pirelli Sport Demon and Avon Roadrider AM26 (may have even used these on another older bike): but nothing specific on how they are on a VF1000F.

Price not a factor- they're all in the same general range.

So, any experience-based opinions on these tires? I'm most interested in tire feedback and lean grip; slightly less on wet road adhesion; and not much interested in long wear.

    AM26s on my 84 1000F. Love em.

Sport Demons on my 85 1000R were good too, but it was more than 5 years after mounting before I got to try them.

The Avons I find predictable and very confident. I no longer feel like I am being held back by tires. I can just keep leaning and looking thru the corners.

I put a Lasertec on the front of my ST1100 last year and hated it. Heavy steering, liked to tram-line and just to top it all off, wore out quickly (not that I minded; was a good excuse to throw it away). I've been a big Metzeler fan for decades but this one was rubbish. Metzeler have set up production in Brazil I think and this is where the Lasertec that I had was made.

Their German product is as good or better than ever however.

If the same tire is produced in both Brazil & Germany, it would be somewhat surprising that they would be different; given modern engineering/manufacturing.

Or are Lasertecs and ME33s constructed differently? They look identical.

Just a follow-up- I installed the AM26's and did a ~200 mile sporting ride Saturday and have to say I liked them a lot.

    So thanks again.

AM26's are perfectly fine in the dry, get them on a damp or wet road and you'll have to be really careful with them or else they will slip out while cornering
