Hi all. I'm new around here and to VFRs in general. I'm doing so reassembly to get the bike on the road and have a few questions about wheels and tire sizes. My rear rim says it's a 17x5 rim. It's the 5 spoke 94-74 rim. I think 170/60-17 is the normal tire size for it, but I'm not sure. Other bikes with 5" rims usually run 160/60-17 rear tires. Does everyone here run 170 series tires on this rim? Anyone tried 160 size and liked it or hated it? Thanks for the help guys.

170 is the correct tire; a 160 will fall off in a turn quicker and run hotter

Thanks. It just seems so strange that other bikes (Kawis and Zooks) with 5" wheels use the 160 series tire in back. Is the VFR 5" wheel a little wider than 5 inches?

Don't know why; maybe they like that "twitchy" feel in the rear end.
