V30 vs VF500 engines

Another question. Is there any internal difference between the motors put in the 500cc magna's vs the ones put in the zf500's? (ie cams, pistons, etc)

I am rebuilding an '84 vf500 motor that ate a valve and I have a donor motor from an '84 magna from which I would like to use the heads and one piston.

Am I going to run into problems here? Any "watch outs" or recommendations?

The parts you want to use should work fine. There are some differences in the gearbox ratios between the F and C models.

If I were you I'd get a new piston and valve(s). You can use the heads but I would not reuse any wearable parts.

Lastly - don't forget all new valve springs. That's what caused you to drop the valve in the first place.
