I couldn't find my original thread so here it is.

A 1985 VF1000F followed me home and $625 is missing from my wallet. Had to sell one of my rifles since I wasn't allowed to buy it.

Started working on it last night.

List of projects to do on the bike:

    1. Gas Tank - I've already pressure washed the inside and got rid of most of the rust with apple cider vinegar. I need to get a liner kit and finish it. I've also fixed the tiny dent with some bondo. Once that's done, then I can paint.
    2. Chain & Sprockets - Need to be replaced.
    3. Radiators - Need to get flushed and tested.
    4. Clutch - Slave cylinder was leaking and peeled some paint off some parts.
    5. Covers - Water Pump and Sprocket guard (and a few other parts) need to go to powder coat.
    6. Body Panels - Need to touch up and paint mainly the chin as it has quite a bit of damage from the leaking clutch fluid and chips.
    7. Forks & Sales - I'll need to replace the dust seals and main fork seals. I'll replace the fluid while I'm at it.
    8. Fuel System - Needs to be flushed, a new fuel filter installed, and the carbs cleaned.
    9. Tires - I may need new tires. I need to look closer at them.
    10. Fluids / General Maintenance - Oil change, check the valve clearances, chain tensioners, brake / clutch fluids, and general cam health

The bike turned over when I bought it. I didn't want to try and start it with all the crap in the system. It sounded healthy and free. All in all, the bike is quite the catch for what I paid and overall condition.

Eh, I would line the tank anyways since you're stripping away all the treated surfaces. You'll end up with flash rusting otherwise.

I just ordered a Kreem kit a few minutes ago. LOL

I paid $200 for my VF500. All it needed was carb cleaning, folk seals replacing, new front pads and a steering baring.

Looks nice, I've always liked those colors...don't see that scheme that often.

I would run...not walk away from Kreem tank liner. The worst stuff to put in a tank. I can't count the failings I've read about and experienced first hand. I've used Casewell's tank line for years and will never use anything else on my tanks. It actually likes a bit of rust to bite to.

She looks in capable hands, keep the pics coming.
