That is a terrible question. SO MANY variables on a 500. 86 is prob the most valuable as far as "improvements", like line bored cam journals.

"Non running" from sitting? Or other.... like done-blowed-up.

$200-ish if the bodywork is at all decent. And like a Hawk, the tank isn't a rust bucket.

Trash bodywork... keep walking. Unless it has some period cool parts (shock, clip-ons, rear-sets, exhaust... that kind of shit)

Spares? Back of the envelope, I have the salvage value of a decent roller at ~$1000. Condition might take it +/-$600 from there.
Could narrow that range with a few images.

don't get involved, you have better projects to spend ca$h on. very few 500s are still in decent condition now, and parts are scarce.

before anyone gets too interested in any cheap, non-running vf500.........DO A COMPRESSION TEST ! this would eliminate most of them.

I really think it depends on the condition of the fuel tank. Go try to find one online right now. There's actually a decent looking one for $367 on there now, but often times it's completely dry.

I'd like to find a non-running 500 as a spare bike for if/when parts of mine die. I'd try to get it for $500 or less though.
