Howdy everyone, I picked up a nice low miles 86 VF500F that sat for a long time. Ran great, didn't idle. I'm currently giving the carbs a good cleaning, I've cleaned and rebuilt a large number of motorcycle carbs so this isn't new to me. After finishing half the job I went inside to grab a drink and then when I came back to the garage I noticed this one single spring sitting beside the rack of carbs. I have no idea where it came from, I've looked the carbs up and down and everything seems to be in the correct place. I've looked at parts diagrams and can't figure out where it came from. Anyone care to take a shot? Also, a couple of my mixture screws were missing the tiny o-ring and washer that sits underneath the mixture screw, does anyone have an idea as to where I could order these from?
That is the axial carb spring that falls out when you disassemble the carbs after taking off the plenum plate. That is usually a no-no for the average person but you have been around and know not to break the plastic fuel rails. It goes on the ends of the throttle shaft to help preload the left bank with the right, and there should be two of them, one shorter than the other. PM me with your mailing address and i'll send you 4 orings in an envelope, can US First Class Mail make it across the border or does it need additional postage?
That spring goes between the throttle wheels right in the middle of the rack. I've never understood its purpose so I'm sure you would be ok without it. I can get you some of those o-rings, shoot me an email and I'll give you the details.
It may be too small in diameter to be the axial spring mentioned, which leaves some suspicion that it's a synchronizing spring that goes under a throttle synch linkage.
