I am rebuilding my vf700f from the ground up. Where is the best place to buy a gasket set for the top and bottom and also i need piston rings. Would you recommend redoing my crankshaft and/or piston rod bearings?? How do I tell if it needs it?

I am in VF700F HELL at this moment, thanks for the help!

    vf700f help

I would recommend checkin out EBAY first, for gaskets you might get lucky, and for crankshaft and rod bearings if their are no score marks or gouges in them clean them up and reuse them, this will save you a little money , if your not sure about the condition of them replace em, I just did a ground up on my 85 and all I have to do is replace my head gaskets now and put it back in, got the gaskets just not the time yet, very soon , Best of luck, check out mine if you get a chance

HOW many miles on the old machine??

    What were your compression readings??

How much do you plan on spending on the rebuild??

Are you going to hone the cylinder bores??

It's easy to put new parts in an engine and call it a rebuild, but it's VERY difficult to do it right. there are hundreds of small details. one loose bolt or one over-tightened bolt will destroy it.

You MUST check all the piston ring end gaps when inserted in cylinder bore b4 placing on pistons.

Best way to check bearing clearance is with "Plastigauge"

Consult service manual for recommended clearances.

    Extreme cleanliness is a necessity!!
