Does the 87 VFR 700F2 have a temperature sensor and a thermostat? Or does it have either or? Which one controls the temperture gauge in the cluster? In addition which one is located in the botton left on the radiator? Is the fan automatic and at what temp does it activate.

the temp gauge operates from the pick up near the thermostat , and the radiator-mounted thermoswitch kicks in the fan.

If you have no fan, remember that the thermoswitch is a very common failure item, and many just replace it with a manual switch......

Fan should come on when gauge reaches about 2/3 scale.

TEST the fan itself by touching the wire going to thermoswitch to a good ground (with key ON), and fan should run......
