I've been looking for a good riding jacket that isn't so short in the waist, as I wanted a more relaxed fit. Anyone got anything similar? It seems like everything out there is way too racy for heading out on an hour's drive.

Source out some of the big online stores. Not clear if you are looking for leather or fabric and how many Loonies you have to spend. Two of my faves are a old Hien Gericke Paris/Dakar and a really old Aerostich. Some of the manufacturers have sizes that come in "long".

I don't know how long you've been riding so I'll toss this your way. Buy your new jacket a size over what you normally wear. This allows for layering and the heated stuff that is available.

I have this jacket from Scorpion
SCORPION EXO WEAR All-In Jacket BLACK
It has a strait cut at the waist. I like everything about this jacket. It's comfortable, and doesn't make me look like a Power Ranger if I'm not on the bike. The liner is super warm in the winter, and the vents work great (dumping a huge amount of air through the jacket when open) which are great through spring. It's going to be impossible to wear it during the summer (I switch to an old Joe Rocket mesh jacket to deal with summers in DC). I've dealt with sportbiketrackgear.com quite a bit in the last year. I can really recommend them. Their customer service is outstanding. They also post video reviews of quite a bit of the gear that they sell, all of which I've found useful. The often have gear listed below msrp, you just have to write an email to get the coupon code (it should bounce right back to you).

Thanks for the info. Most of the stuff out there is really really over-the-top...covered in writing and too many colours. I tell ya, these companies must think we're all a bunch of Battlestar Galactica wannabe's.
Just a plain black leather coat, normal length, with a hidden zipper. That's all I want!
