VFR750 Dyno Run (no idea why VF's are on this forum, 1st generation VFR's started in 1986?)

Std FK engine and its well knackered, smokes like a bastard and burns loads of oil.

    Changes in full:
Exhaust: removed internal weld restiction at top of headers, Motad collector, Viper Can (loud)

Carbs: 136 jets, std airfilter but no lid, heat shield blanket to keep carbs cool, shortened bell mouths (rubber)

It also has an HRC style inlet duct above radiator but this only works at speed so has no effect on dyno.

Dyno operator said the valves were bouncing due to weak springs and probably because valves are not seating correctly due to wear, seat pitting etc. He also said its running weak and would probably make another 3 - 5hp if mixture was sorted.

    Conditions
    Pressure - 1011 hPa
    Humidity - 85%
    Temp - 20.5

Pretty solid numbers for an old bike!

I was quite surprised how flat the and early maximum power was achieved, looks like it cant burn the mixture well above 9500rpm, hopefully will be up to 110-115 when I've upped the compression and reground the cams. The carb heat shield really keeps them cool and the intake sounds amazing without the lid.

A VF is a VF and not a VFR and this is a VFR forum surely? LOL

I have 2 RC30's and they are V4's but we have separate forums for these bikes.

    What!
    You have 2!
Most of us are lucky if we ever get to actuall see on in the flesh and you have 2!

I saw an ad for one for sale in NY state for a measly $31,000 last week. I keep telling myself that one day it will be mine but that objective is getting harder to achieve as the years go by unfortunately. Of course that is the price of a new Hyundai genesis so perhaps it all makes sense?

Tonight I am mainly changing the steering head angle LOL

Bottom bearing adaptor for my race bike, reduces fork angle by 2.5 degrees, thats 1.5 inches at the spindle

Comparison of VFR700 (in hand) piston to stock 750FG.
I have owned this since new in 86 its number 213 off the production line and the engine has done 84000 miles, quite clean really and the bores and cams show no signs of wear. Blew head gasket thats why I took it out and replaced it with an FK.

Interesting, I hadn't realized that the 700s had different piston crowns.

Yes Honda saved some money and only de-stroked the motor, they run same head as a 750 and to up the compression due to the lower swept volume they raised the crown. Not sure if you saw another post of mine~? I checked the 750 compression with a burette and they are only 9.6:1 not the specified 10.5:1, this has been confirmed by another engine tuner that even the RC30 is only 10.5:1 not the specifed 11.3:1.

Anyway off with the front end, I've seen choppers with steeper forks

neat stuff - keep it coming.

yea, I'd always read it was simply a crank and rod conversion. Nothing with the piston dome.

I'm guessing you all missed the ".uk" in where he's from.

NC24 and NC30's are much more common across the pond (also known as a VFR400). Actually, I've got a set of 1987 NC24 front rotors on hold with a bud over in merry ol' England for me to pick up when I'm in Oxford at the end of the month. They're floaters and they fit my F2 rims....me likey! Floaters on my F2's, I get to keep the speedo drive and can still mount up my opposed twin pot RC51 calipers.

EBC makes a 320MM full floater for F2 rims, but I don't feel like selling a very valuable left appendage to buy them...

UK's got some really nice kit over there running around on the streets.

Alas, never to see NA shores......

Oh yes: without the VF there would be no VFr. There would be neither the original design to draw the VFr out of, nor a reason for Honda to redesign and shrink the VF down to the VFr.

Splitting them off into a VF forum would be a possibility though.

Meh, doesn't matter to me either way....it's all family!

Well spotted, I live in Guildford 23 miles from central London :)

We have loads of NC30's although not many UK bikes mainly Jap inports, can pick one up for £1200, NC35 are a little more expensive but still common.

30's are getting very expensive and the parts are so rare. I was going to race the ex Isle of Man TT (Tony Scott engine) bike but if I blow it will cost at least £6000 to rebuild.

Actually the RC24 is nicer to race, feels more natural to me.

Have you ever seen this video
