HI all, Got clutch issues, have played with the adjustor on the lever but still when I put the bike in first gear it stalls as if it's goes into gear and wants to go (clutch lever pulled in). Fluid Levels OK, idle revs normal. I can get it back into N by rocking it backwards and forwards. Have not bleed the system yet but not sure if that needs doing or if it's something more serious that I could go straight to or if it's something as simple as a spring or adjusting the cable.

Any advice appreciated, I hate public transport. Mike Bailey.

You can start by getting the bike level and removing the clutch master cylinder and sucking out the fluid and inspecting that return hole under the honda think splash guard round thing. I like using something like a q-tip/cotton swab with the tip cut off. Could use something like a jet cleaning wire, I have some frayed up cables that I use to reem stuff out like that.

After that, re-fill and bleed the clutch from the slave, something every man should have. These are old bikes and need attention, I usually overhaul the master cyclinder on these and sometimes go for a brand new slave cylinder. Keep us posted and post up some pictures. :peace:

There are no cables or springs, it's hydraulically actuated. It does sound like you need to renew the clutch fluid and bleed any air out. Happy to talk you through that if needed.

With the engine off and the bike in first gear, are you able to roll the bike along with the clutch pulled in? Sometimes it can take a little effort to separate the clutch plates at first. If so, mechanically your clutch is probably fine, so maybe the fault is electrical. There are interlocks built in to stop the engine if you try and put it in gear with the sidestand down for example, so either the sidestand switch or the clutch switch might need some attention. Does the neutral light work normally (ie light up in neutral, go off in 1 or 2?)?
