Very soon, VFRworld will be going through a metamorphosis. The software that VFRworld runs on has released a new version, and it's time for an upgrade. It's also time for VFRworld to redesign, which is a good idea every few years. The web is an ever-evolving place, and good web sites are always looking for innovative ways to stay current. As a result, very soon VFRworld will be going through this process, and there are some things you should be aware of:

    1. The navigation of the site will likely change dramatically. You've gotten used to how to get around, and after the upgrade, you'll need to learn your way around again. For those that don't like change, this may be frustrating. But rest assured that we'll help you through the process as much as possible.
    2. There are some features that will be eliminated after the upgrade. Either they are not compatible with the new version, or they just aren't used much. The future of the web is simplification - making information less complex, and easier to find. In an effort to embrace this approach, VFRworld will be simplifying its features to make the site less overwhelming for new users.
    3. There are some new features that you might love. For example, the new VFRworld will have a robust Blogging feature, which will allow you to speak your mind in different ways.
    4. There will be some things that are "broken" after the upgrade. This is a major redesign, and I guarantee there will be features and pages that simply don't work and need to be fixed. It will take time to work through each of these. If VFRworld were a true "business", we would have a full test environment where we get everything working perfectly before the upgrade. But it's not, it's really just a handful of VFR lovers trying to keep the site from not crashing. :ninja:
    5. Most importantly, the site will be down for some period of time. It might be a day, it might be more depending on how many issues are encountered during the upgrade. For those of you who visit the site daily and think of it as "home", first of all thank you, and second of all, we apologize for the inconvenience. We promise to get the site back up and running as quickly as possible, but please be patient. Remember, it's all in the spirit of progress and looking to the future.
    6. I don't yet know when the upgrade will occur, more testing needs to be done before we decide. It might be as early as Tuesday evening. If you attempt to login to the site and get a message that we're in the middle of an upgrade, you'll know that it's Game On.
As always, thank you to everyone for your support through the years. Your support makes it all worth the work and expense, and it's a great feeling knowing that I'm helping to connect people who love the VFR as much as I do.

Stay tuned, it's going to be a bit painful, but in the end, I think VFRworld will be better, and more simplified, than ever before!

    Cheers,
    Michael

Now Michael......You are stressing me out. I just got used to using CDs instaed of records and you want to change things again. BTW. Anyone know how to keep the stylus from skimming across the CD?

If it is down for any length of time, I will have to talk to my wife. Anyone remember what her name was?

Geez Randy get with it!! Use either a nickel or a quarter on top of the stylus to keep it from skimming. Only us audiophiles know that kind of stuff.

Good luck on the upgrade michael. Hope you keep the enhancements to a minimum.

All crazy Randy'ness aside, I would greatly appreciate a dark theme option like the one we use now. It's easy on the eyes in the whee hours of the morning... :dizzy:
