    Hey guys,

My battery just gave out on my '98 while I was about 15 miles away from home. I just want to make sure that it was just an old battery and nothing else. The battery has been on the bike since '98 (is this the typical life of a motorcycle battery?) ... also in lieu of this I am going over the R/R and the stator ...

The R/R does get warm/hot while in idle and low riding speeds (10 - 20 mph) ... when tested it was at about 12-12.5 volts - idle
and approx 14 volts when revved...
-My voltage meter was connected to the red wires by the battery and R/R when tested...

The stator on the other hand... checked out at about 6 volts (dc)
-My voltage meter was connected to all three yellow wires (three separate times of course) coming from the stator (alternator) as according to www.yft.org/tex_vfr (R/R Basics Article)

Please let me know if these two figures are correct... I just dont want to be stranded again ...
    :-[ :'(

    Thanks,
    Ken
