hey yall i seem to got some weird tick on startup on my 2004 vfr 800, however its only when i take it above 4k rpm. it also goes away as soon as i hit 80 degrees Celsius. ive listened to almost every other video of ticking noises but nothing really sounds like this. any advice or opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Have a close listen for the noise/clatter up at the R/H side cylinder head covers, front and rear. This is generally where failing CCT (Cam Chain Tensioner) noise can be heard.
How many miles has it done and have either front or rear CCT's ever been replaced?

My CB-1 sounds a bit like this and has an exhaust leak at the header connection since...dinosaurs.

I have a similar sound that goes away once the bike heats up. I believe the exhaust gasket, which looks like steel wool actually, but probably some other material, has finally burned out. I had changed the exhaust a long time ago and re-used the gasket even though it was looking thin at that time. I have a new gasket and will be taking care of that along with several other things soon as the weather cools down a bit. Insurance runs out end of the month anyway.

Ok so I got gaskets on order and if not that I think I’ll just get a pair of manual chain tensioners. Thanks for all help guys I really appreciate it

Choice is yours, but strongly recommend you fit new OEM CCT's and stay away from the manual type!
