VFR? ok, there`s GSR, GSX, CBR .
    But they have names,bandits,fireblades,blackbirds
    Is VFR short for something?
    For-- Very Fat Riders?-------?
Or does a certain collection of letters sound better than others? -
    I ride a HLB 800 , or a SWE 800, a QPJ 800 ??
    Any ideas?

I believe it stands for V - cylinder configuration, F - four, R - race. This is completly an assumption but makes sense when one thinks about the VTR (RC 51).

Very Fast Range (back in 1983)

Just kidding - I think even in 1983 we had Top Gun's GPz900 to set the standard on that. V4 Racing is it.

Mine is guessing as well.... But the VFR is also called an Interceptor.... I was in the service, and my Squadron was VF-84 (Interceptor Fighter squadron-84)... It's likely that it could have been taken from that concept....

Yeah, I hear you. My one son, when he was younger, used to say to me, "Dad, you're not fat, you're just a good size man!" Somehow that sounded so much better.

I was told the following by different people:
    • VFR = Very F*ckin' Rad
    • VFR = Very Fine Ride
    I'm not buying either.
