We know that it all started in 1983 with the VF750F, but 1984-1986 were the glory years when Honda offered the Interceptor in 500cc, 700cc, 750cc and 1000cc displacements. We also know that the 1986 VFR700/750F was officially the 2nd Generation of our beloved Interceptor. So what about these bikes that were based on the 1st Generation design?

    1984-1986 VF500F
    1984-1985 VF700/750F
    1984 VF1000F
    1985-1986 VF1000R

Are these bikes also considered 1st Generation Interceptors? Am I missing any? I think that technically, they are. What's your opinion?

I would say ´83-´85 700/750F is 1st generation. Cos the 500cc and 1000cc did not live to turn from VF to VFR.
(Maybe the 500cc but it vent down to 400cc)

Uppdate: I agree with fotomoto. Interceptor is the American version only.

The "glory years" didn't start until '86, after Honda fixed the upper-end oiling problem and initiated gear-driven cams.

Yes, all of these bikes constitue the first generation. Careful calling it the "first generation Interceptors" because the R's are not technically Interceptors. Some of the US Honda literature shows the Interceptor name but nothing from Japan (that I've seen) denotes that designation.
