Temp on the '09 at 220F & fan did not come on.
I turned on ignition and jumped tbe wire and fan came on.
What temp usually prompts the fan??
    Thanks!

So the temperature that you see and is displayed on the dash panel comes from the ECT sensor (engine coolant sensor). This sensor is in the forward (engine) head. This is the temp that the ECU sees. But the fan is switched on by the 'fan motor switch' which is located in the left radiator. This temperature is not shown on the dash panel. The fan motor switch works independently from the ECT sensor. Same way the thermostat works independently from the fan motor switch and the ECT sensor.
In other words - it would be kind of amazing if the fan on or off would coordinate exactly with the the temps displayed on the dash panel.
But if the dash temp seems to be lower when the fan turns on then the coolant may be working more efficiently...

    just my 2 cents.
