Need to replace both, so which brand suits the bike best? I use my 2003 vtec model for daily commute, part traffic and some motorway work, do not lean heavy in corners, roads tend to be slippery even when dry, have been told pirellis are ok or metzlers, any comments on that?

I have heard excellent things with the new Metzeler Roadtec 01s. I would try those.

I used to use Michelin Pilot Road 4, but they didn't last me as long as the Pilot Road 3. The PR4 has a better profile though.
This time 'round, I am trying it the Bridgestone T30. Only about twenty miles on them so far, so I'll keep you posted. Initial impression is that they make the bike feel very light. Tips into the turn very easily.

Ok, I have about 200ish miles on the T30 Evos. Eighty of that was in rain. So far, I like 'em! I was at first cautious with them on wet roads, but now, I have a lot of confidence in them. Took a twist section of road and while I was still cautious, I can tell that the work great. Braking in the rain is good, as is grip under acceleration. So far, so good! Air temp was in the high fifties today, down to the low fifties.

200 miles of riding-no way any useful review could be made in that short time, any new tires are usually good in some rain

True, but, as I said, initial impression. Also, this was at speeds up to 80 mph indicated, with standing water on the road. It was more than some rain.

Just remember, his bike hasn't even seen enough miles to have burnt through the first set of tires Honda slapped on at the factory. Handling dynamics and wear discussions are pointless.

Minimizing flat spots while a bike sits in the garage, now there's a sow tire topic.

best tires i ever ran on my bike were the pireli angel ST's. man, those were great tires and all i ran, on my harley too. but they dont make them anymore. my only guess why is that they werent making enough money due to the 8-10k usuable miles those things got. last go-round i went withthe pireli angel GT's. not so impressed. not a bad tire, handled pretty good when new but were snappy loose when pushed too hard. not a smooth slide like i got with the ST's or the dunlops i use to use. took too long to warm up for my liking. at 1500 miles the rear was pretty squared off and by 2k, the rear was SQUARE and the front starting to cup. bout 4k on them now and they do hold up well. they still do well in the rain but i dont so i cant give the best insight on that. im sure i can get many more miles out of them, but i dont want too

Heavy use out of PR2s. 7,000 miles in 2 weeks, then 2 more years putting on about another 3,500 miles. No squaring off, loss of sticky, and my riding style is moderate. Reviews on PR3&4 have not been as favorable as the 2s.

Nice!! I'm right there with you, sunofwolf. I usually ride a solid 200 miles per work week and more on weekends, less in winter though. There was a severe injury in my family that put my riding to a halt on those tires.

But I know I got a good 10, 500 miles on those PR2s before I sold the bike. There was still life in those tires when I sold it. The tires were put on right before the 7,000 mile trip.

It will be hard for me to find tires that top them. I'm in the market for new ones as well.

Dunlop's are only good for a few thousand miles and then are lousy tires.

Seeing as you said the word "slippery " can confirm the Michelin Road 4s are the best tyres I've owned for riding in cold wet foul conditions. Also with the fronts more rounded profile giving a quicker turnin like them much better than the previous flatter profiled Road3s through the twisties as well.
