Hello everyone. I have been watching the VFR1200 since it was released. I have never seen once in person until today and I like it. My last sport bike was an 03 Blackbird. I did everything I could but age was getting to my legs, wrists and shoulders. From there I went to a FJR1300 then Concours 14 but found both to be not sporty enough. I guess I'm not dead yet

My question is this; I have two dealers bidding for my business. Both have 2010's, one used with about 3,000 miles, one new. Both stock.
The used one I can get for $9,200 and it comes with a Honda warranty until March of 2016. The new one can be had for $11,600 with the standard 1 year warranty. The used bike has a crease in the seat and ding in the muffler cover. Neither a deal breaker especially with me getting rid of the muffler anyway. Advice on which bike I should get?

    Thanks for any advice.

$2,400 is enough cash that I'd seriously consider the used one, with the savings you could fix the two imperfections on the used bike and still be ahead.

Thanks guys. I can pickup a nice seat cover for under $100 and plan on dumping the stock can anyway. Leaning towards a Black CF Two Bro's and agree that the warranty is tempting. Even thou I had zero issues with my Blackbird the 5 years I had it. But there's the alure of breaking in a new bike the right way.........

I would say it depends on how cash strapped you are. If you can afford the difference in price, then I'd go new every time. That way there are no unknowns and you can do the break-in.

I slept on it guys and decided to go with the used bike. $2,000 more just for the fact that it's new wasn't worth it to me seeing both bikes are pristine. Plus 3 additional years warranty on the used bike is nice. Does anyone know what that's worth by itself?

This economy must really bite. Out of common courtesy, I called the dealer with the new bike and informed him that I was going with the used bike at the other dealer. About a half an hour later, he calls me back saying he just got off the phone with the vacationing owner who told him to drop the price to $10,500 and add MI's 6% sales tax and get it the hell out of his showroom. He explained that with winter fast approaching here in Michigan and setting on this bike for two years, it's simply acrueing more interest every month adding to the cost of it. Now I think I better grab the new one.

damn I was gonna say go for the used one, too, but with them making the price so close even I would probably buy the new one.

You guys may think I'm nuts, but I had committed to buy the used one when the other dealer called. But I kept my word and bought the used one. I will be picking up the girl next week. And I was mistaken, she only has 1,700 miles, not 3,000.

I don't think you are nuts at all. I passed up on an offer of a promotion that would have raised my annual pay by 40k a year because I had already given my word on another job. Some moments are defining moments.

You still got a righteous deal on a good bike.

if someone sold a bike like that after 1700 mi, they were probably intimidated by it...doubt that they were hard miles...enjoy !!! z bomb it up and have fun !!!

I agree you still got a great deal and I understand your reasoning to go through with the used bike.

However, in my book business is business. Unless you are on your way to come pay/pick-up or I have money in my hand, it isn't sold. My guess is that if the seller had gotten a high offer and you hadn't seen/committed yet, he would have let you know he has more money on the table.

Turning down a $40K promotion? Money isn't everything, but is a very important SOMETHING. There better be a DAMNED good offer on the other end and I better not have confidence in my current situation to walk away from something like that. Ultimately, you need to be happy with your choices and path. Only each one of us can determine and define what what means.

Enjoy the hell out of your new ride.
