I have been looking around to see what set of tires I would put on the VFR1200. The stock Dunlops as always will be crap and will come and be my first upgrade. I have looked at a few companies and not many carry a 190/55 ZR17 that will be good in the dry, touring, 2 up and in the wet. I have always either used Avon Storm ST (great tire) or Metzler Sportec.
    Anybody got any ideas.
PS I don't do track days as thats what the road is for.

Couldn't agree more, a track just can't offer the same challenges a heavily traveled interstate can. Once a person masters a track, like I have, there is no where else to go but downtown freeways.

Tough to tell what tires are going to be good for the 1200 with the extra weight and unknown handling charachteristics. I ride M3 sport-tecs on the 800 and love them but maybe not the greatest tire for a bike that seems that much more tour oriented. I, unlike a number of people on this forum, do not like Pilot Powers, but maybe Pilot Roads would be appropriete. My thinking is that the Pirelli Dragons ( supercorsa pro ) look ideal. Just gotta get on the new bike first.

I'll recommend the Michelin Pilot Road 2CT.

The PR 2's are a great choice for the type of riding described above.

The 07 VFR used Motorex 10W/40 4T Synthetic Performance stuff. Strange thing is this oil is green. Bike ran well on it and seemed to like it.

The new technology in the VFR1200 will allow it to operate with no engine oil. A simple and annually applied 3oz. dose of Slick Fifty to the license plate bracket is all that Honda suggests.

It only needs a thimble full every 1000km hence the tank size. Do I have to explain everything. Next you will want to know what type of air to put in the tires.
