VFR 750. Clutch works fine. starts fine. as soon as I try to put it in gear it cuts out.
Gearbox is not stuck as if i put the bike in first with engine off and try to turn back wheel it does not turn until I pull in clutch lever and then the wheel spins.. Was thinking it was clutch but have just disassembled and put back together to confirm plates were not stuck together. Im convinced it is electrical as if i ease it into gear slowly it cuts out before any mechanical clunk.

What year? Sounds like a side stand switch that thinks it's down.

Looks "the hard way" to me. Why not rule out electric problems first ?
