Saw the recent thread on touching up a fairing. Is Y-124P or Y124 the correct paint code, Might try to get some mixed up. Just have a couple stone chips.... Are the ColorRite touch up pens a close match? http://www.colorrite.com/product/honda-y124p-pearl-shining-yellow-1356.cfm $32 though for base and top...... Speaking of Testors, maybe this is close enough for a couple stone chips: http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/tes/tes2778.htm Thanks!
The paint code on the VIN sticker is the one to use. It is doubtful that getting some mixed up is going to happen. The ColorRite pens are excellent. The drawback is that they only contain the base color. For some rockchips that are small, at this time of year, use the Testors and a small bristle artists brush. Look to do several layers to fill the hole. The smaller brushes ( 0-0000) are called spotting brushes. In a pinch,a good substitute is a Qtip with a wooden shaft after de fuzzing.. Technically some colors have characteristics that are unique. The yellows save yellow ochre are transparent or depending on the undercoat color, translucent. IOW, if ya paint the yellow on your bike over the ABS fairing part that are black the yellow is going to look different than if ya painted over a neutral grey or white. Used to be that this was not the case but in those days, yellows were made from cadmium and chromium..Combine that with the already toxic nature of automotive paint and a few too many whiffs of than will have anyone drooling in their Wheaties. Certain blues and greens fall into the same can of worms. Reds fade.. Best way to learn aboot paint for bikes is to buy a book on automotive painting and repair with a recent publishing date.
