For one of my 86 VF1000Rs.

Getting this shock (5mm longer than stock and adjustable from there +/-5mm) in back with a VTR1000F rear wheel (5.5"). Up front, 91 VFR fork lowers and internals with 91 CBR1000F tubes (longer) and a 91 CBR1000F wheel (3.5"). Couple 2 Bros oval silencers connected to stock collector with some custom connectors. Build thread coming soon. Not gonna be a restoration, just well sorted mechanically. Something I can thrash and not worry about.

This one will fall into the category of a Resto-mod, keeping the spirit of the original but adding some modern touches. That is an approach that I highly approve of. Look forward to seeing more of this build.

I very briefly struggled with the idea. After years of lusting in my youth, it almost felt like blasphemy to replace the Comstars on a 1000R. But I do have a stock 86 and a restored, lightly modified 85 already. And I really want to ride one with some nice upgrades in the suspension department. My 85 does have a DMr shock and Gold Valves which was a huge improvement. Some nice wide 17"s with radials with these suspension updates should be sweet, as I found out on my RC26 build. I also have a set of 5.5/3.5 CBR wheels getting set up for my 84 VF1000F, which already has a DMr shock and Gold Valves too.
