How about I try motorcycle tires on my Honda.

Accord. Could be fun. Maybe I can reduce the cost by using take offs. :pipe:

    Dude, I'm not your bro.
Please don't make claims that you can't provide sources; it simply makes you a liar.

You can do whatever you like.
Expect people to tell you that you're stupid without providing any supporting evidence.

If you are doing a long trip then part of that to factor in is tyres.
If you plan the trip @ 6000m & your normal milage for tyres is 4500m then you visit a shop at that the 4500m point.

Plenty of motorcycle tyre shops about - sometimes it just takes a little more organisation & planning.

I used to only get about 3000m front & rear on my sports bikes - but I do lean on the front.

Let me get this straight, you want to have your motorcycle handle poorly with a car tire in order to get more miles? One component that no one has mentioned is the suspension characteristics that a motorcycle tire has and a car tire does not. A moto tire while leaned over is made to be part of how your suspension works with flex while loaded sideways. Your suspension is less effective while leaned over and the tire becomes a bigger part of the whole equation.
You said "I've only been riding little over 20 years, ridden plenty of squirrelly bikes with schetchy handling characteristics.. yet to die from any of them."
You keep wanting proof about other posts but offer this sort of proof? Just because a person can run across the interstate in rush hour and not get hit does not mean its a good idea.

Here is a good well researched article that addresses all kinds of issues that have been discussed here and many that have not.

If only similar research were conducted with car tire mounted on rear wheel motorcycle, why isn't there such research available?

Over 13 million miles (not just my experience) already recorded among riders with car tire mounted on their bikes, with zero issues; why do you think a DOT research is not conduct?

I think it's profit, if motorcycle tire change interval changed from 9000 miles to 20ooo miles per tire, tire manufacturers would be selling far less tires; combined with car tires being cheaper than moto-specific tires.. that's a big chunk of profit loss.

Obviously you did not read any of the research articles I posted. No tire manufacturer, insurance company, riding organization, riding schools anywhere on the planet Earth says this is a good idea. They talk a lot about how the proponents of dark siding use how many miles rode without incident and how misinformation is spread. I feel you are trolling now and really don't want to have an intelligent conversation with an open mind. The right too for the right job as you said. MC tire on a motorcycle. End of file.

You're entitled to feel what you like, still there is no official DOT research on car tire usage on motorcycles conducted... am I wrong on that?

DOT will never do a study like that. Every tire manufacturer and their design engineers say to not do it, they are not designed to function like that.

Did you read the independent studies? There is some really good scientific fact based research in there. Some are very long and technical but well researched.

& that is what we are doing.

None of the links you provided mean squat in the hands of a lawyer.

You have also not yet provided a single answer to any of my questions:

Name any insurance company that is cool with this?

Show me any race team that uses them?

What road safety organisation says this is a good idea?

Name any major motorcycle manufacturer that endorses it?

Name any tyre manufacturer that recommends it?

Tell me your stopping distances compared to the manufacturers?

Show me any bike that has its suspension 'designed' for car tyres?

Show me any motorcycle that has wheels 'designed' for car tyres?

    & more:

Show me any figures that prove your performance stays at least the same?

Show me ANY REASON OTHER THAN MONEY why you would do this?

Why would they.. everyone is saying that performance is worse with a car tire...

you 'could' put a solid tyre there and get a million miles out of it..

From Iron Butt society. Lot of miles on moto tires.

2011 Iron Butt Rally enabled the highest mileages ever. In that rally, Jim Frens set a new record by running 14,185 miles on the radial Metzeler ME880s he ran on his Gold Wing. In that same rally, second place finisher Eric Jewell logged 13,162 miles running Michelin Pilot Roads on his Honda ST1300. 2011 Iron Butt Rally winner Peter Behm also ran the entire rally (13,544 miles) on one set of Pilot Roads on his Yamaha FJR1300.

The arguments have been provided, everyone, except one person, agrees that car tires on motorcycles
is stupid. Now it's just descending into troll territory. No one on this list is going to think this is a good
    idea. Get used to it.

Go spend your time on the cruiser/Iron Butt forums where you can find people who will validate your
views. It just ain't gonna happen here.

Combined mileage not even 50k miles with three riders.. vs 13 million miles recorded on car tires mounted on many more than three bikes... you do the math.

I had to chime in here after seeing cat0020 get attacked and called names repeatedly. I just do no see why you (and others) are so intent on expressing your opposing views so aggressively to him. If you think it is unsafe, so are many things that all of you do most everyday. He has ridden many miles on a car tire and he seems to enjoy it with no regrets. He answered the OP's question about his personal experiences with a car tire. Why are you and others so intent on insulting and flaming him to death? He is an adult so let him do as he pleases so you can get on with your life. I've seen riders ride on a car tire many times, even knew one. He did it for years without issue. I will not do so, but I am not going to insult him endlessly until he breaks down and swears he will never ever mount a car tire on a bike again.

I never insulted him, just given real experience with the subject and links to real research which I asked if he even read. I don’t reall care what anyone does. Ride on solid rubber if you want a lot of miles. But to insinuate it’s safe by saying how many miles Have been rode on car tires is in my opinion bad advice.

I think cat0020 is having a good time yanking our chains, he can't be serious if he owns all those bikes!
