does anyone have a link with info on how to remove all the fairings on the bike?

I'll be picking mine up soon and the first thing I want to do is strip all the plastics off and clay bar and give them a complete coating of wax.

the owners manual appears to only have instructions on the lower fairings to allow access for oil changes.

I have had mine 2 & 1/2 years and a simple wash brings it back to looking new! Bottom of fairings will collect some gravel and sand, but that about it.

You'll have to buy the shop manual, I think. There are all kinds of interlocking pieces, a real plastic nightmare. The official manual would help you a lot on your first time. I've done it once and am very reluctant to do it again.

Besides the lower fairings you have upper nose fairing and the tail piece. Tail piece easy, haven't had the nose piece off. A lot of work and potential for damage for a wax job, not worth it in my book. Finish is clear coated.

There is a shop manual somewhere on this forum for the 2014 and beyond. I know nothing about it ("I know Nothing, Nothing commandant" Hogan's Hero's I think but may have F..ked it up) but heard it can be downloaded in Zip form. ;-)

What year is your bike? I have removed all mine from my 06 with the aid of the service manual and it was not really that bad.

Being that he posted in the 8th gen forum, I would assume his bike is an 8th gen, not a 6th gen.
And I would agree with others...there is nothing special about the paint that would make it worthwhile to remove everything to clay bar and wax it. I doubt you would even be able to tell much of a difference after you're done.

Patience, do not force, more patience. Once you do it afew times, you learn the angles required to release interlocking connectors, break those and your f***ked.

Yup. I missed that. Not the first time. I tend to not look at what gen forum these posts are in. My bad.

I agree that a bike this new is not likely to be that bad that it needs a clay bar treatment but each to their own. I saw some work that zoom-zoom did on someone's bike with a clay bar and it was like day and night. But that was a 5th gen I think. Yellow in any event.

Mine is ready for its second paint job. But mine gets exposed to the elements more than most. It was last painted in very early 2012 just before I retired. Since then I have logged probably 40K miles on it or so. A repaint is never as good as the original paint but my original was looking quite bad at the time.

Back to the theme of this post, not that it really matters as mine is a 6th, it was quite easy to do following the manual. Hope you can find an 8th gen manual to help you through. VFR Discussion is a good source for manuals. There used to be links on this site for manuals but they froze up years ago and I am not aware that they were ever fixed.

Just takes a bit of time. The ones to remember are all the "internal clips and pins", as in the ones on the black panels inside the fairing, make sure you have all of them out and the rest just slide off . Think the hardest panel to remove was the one above the dash.
