Still running XP?!

As a vicious new strain of ransomware swept the UK’s National Health Service yesterday, shutting off services at hospitals and clinics throughout the region, experts cautioned that the best protection was to download a patch Microsoft had issued in March. The only problem? A reported 90 percent of NHS systems run Windows XP, an operating system Microsoft first introduced in 2001, and hasn't supported since 2014.

Microsoft has issued an update for XP because of this virus, if you are still running XP, update now.

 

They get you when you go to sell too. All kinds of scammers and lowballers come out of the ether. :ghost:

 

Ya, there was a piece on there a couple weeks ago "selling" a 2013 600RR for a grand... I pretty much knew that was bogus.

Funny I've sold tons of stuff on CL and the scammers seem to all have the same script, I'll pay you extra, I'll have it picked up and I'll pay with a cashiers check even after I say cash only or don't bother.

The dudes making the pesos are the the dudes selling the mechanics of the scam to the scammerdudes.

The ad doesn't fit the general conditions usually found in the free shipping ect., scam. There are buys out there.. Might be fun to chase this one down to see if it's real or another variation. Maybe one of the members in or near Spokane.

 

And there was me thinking he died of a bad case of healthy as a horse. When dumb people lie they start to throw in all sorts of unnecessary little embellishments that are a bit of a giveaway. In conversation you can ask them something like, "Oh , how sad, what did he die of ?" then watch to see how long they have to think to come up with an answer.

So today we have on display "increased sophistication", different CBR, listed in multiple locations. Same low ball, late model, low miles M.O., but the scammer has legit looking cell phone numbers that match the area codes for the listing address.
