Found this while I was surfing the Pashnit forums: http://www.techshop.ws/index.html. This place is amazing, I would love to live near it. You Bay-area folks are pretty fortunate.

We had one of these in Modesto Ca., and I was in their all the time, different name but basically the same thing. They are a great place to go when you don't want to buy that one tool that you think you will only use once...

when I was in the USAF, we had a similar deal on base. there was an auto one and a woodworking one both on base. there were so many perks that I never actually used. quite a shame really.

It's a really intriguing premise for a business. Granted, it's quite an investment in equipment and you'd have to have a fairly central location (at least up here). I was amazed at the variety of tools plus they hold classes, at reasonable prices, so you can learn to use them.

What a fantastic idea! Hack machinist wannabes like me dream about getting use of that kind of equipment.

I wonder how they get insurance? That might cost even more than the actual equipment.

Hey nice place. I am in NYC and there is a shop that does storage, space for DIY stuff and other related ameneties - If you are in NYC check them out - a lttle pricey but worth it - Really nice people and real riders!
