It's my turn for a stator and regulator/rectifier change.

You'll have to check those connections... I'll recommend to use dielectric grease on each of those.
Hallogen lights are like ntc resistors (negative temperature resistors) that reduce their resistance when hot, and this implies that a bad connection will generate sparks and heat when not making good contact.
    Good luck!

Bought one a couple of weeks ago but haven't figured out where to put it yet. This is some genuine inspiration. Nice job!

Looks like a good save if that was still working. I wonder how many stator or RR failures have actually been caused by this connector failing? Time to chop out the connector and solder the wires together. With my voltmeter I noticed the voltage drifting slowly downwards as low as 13.4 with the original connector in place, since I soldered the wires the voltage has been a rock steady 14.2. I also went over the battery and earth point connectors at the same time which may have helped.

It's on the left side rear and that braided cable is the shock reservoir hose.

Yeah, I'm perplexed by this as I always go over the electrical connections when doing oil changes, as I figure no better time to check them and all was good. I also clean and put 'Oxguard' on the major ones, this would be one of those! My volt meter didn't show any decrease in the readout or any significant "hint" so kind of wondering what the deal is there. I also would have thought the smell of burnt or burning plastic would be present but I didn't notice anything. Unlike the 6 Gen, where the connector is up front, this one is below and behind the rider so that may account for the lack of "aroma". So sometime in between the last oil change and the low side, this had happened. I'm going to order a new RR and stator and get those two installed and hopefully I won't find any other hidden issues before I get the bike back on the road!

I noticed the bit of bare wire shown on your picture looks pretty corroded, so maybe the corrosion is between the wire and the terminal i.e. at the crimp, rather than between the connectors.

Mine wasn't any better. I could see the connectors and the plastic was, literally, pulverized.
You are better at this, but if you need help let me know D.

Could be, I saw that as well. It's possible the heat melted back the sheathing and the exposed wire became corroded. Well, it's getting replaced regardless, going to get one of the Shindengen MOSFET RR and an OEM Stator and do it up proper.

Yep, tempted fate. Figured if I just looked after them it wouldn't be an issue...lesson learned! Now off to get new parts, now what is that FH part number again?
