Verdict is in folks....cosmetically the bike was well cared for. Mechanically not so much. Thank the lord the guy was able to cover the basics such as engine oil etc so as to protect the motor but that's about as far as it went. Where to begin, warning this is a long post! Since the forum was down I've made a TON of progress.

For starters, the stator is toast, wires from R&R fried. I already shipped my stator to Custom Rewind, very pleased with them, $119 shipped back to me. I ordered the Super Kit from Roadster....didn't even bother to test the R&R, I'm sure it's bad and don't care if it's not. It's factory and I'm not dealing with it anymore. Now on to my other discoveries.

I drained the radiator and motor and to my surprise the fluid was pristine!! It was also purple???? The revisor was almost empty. Went ahead and bought a new radiator cap because at this point I'm just gonna do stuff so I know it's right.

Rear brakes weren't working well... kinda hard to do when there absolutely no fluid in them. Front brakes seemed ok, fluid was a little low but clean. Clutch felt soft...surprised it worked at all. It had a little bit of fluid in the bottom and that fluid was very dirty and milky. I have ordered a rebuild kit for the front, and back brakes, and for the master and slave cylinder. I have a power bleeder and I'm going to flush all lines until clean.

I also ordered the fan switch and voltmeter... not sure the best line to tie into for the meter, I guess any. I took the dash apart and examined it (pictures below). Found nothing out of place so not sure what's up with the odometer. I replaced all the bulbs in the dash and also the headlights (why not since it's all apart).

I discovered the bike does have a K&N Filter...but most certainly does not have a power commander unless it's invisible.

Other than all that I've been degreasing and cleaning the bike with my tooth brush. It's not perfect but coming along.

Just an FYI... factory spec is 220-221 for the fan to turn on. Your temps are normal. Good job on the repairs. You'll be racking up the miles soon....

Thank ya sir..I do know that now lol. When I first started researching a read a few things that lead me to believe 230 was total meltdown and it was game over. I think the switch is still a good idea for me; sitting in Houston traffic on a 95 degree day it should come in handy.

Yeah probably a good idea. Some guys have found a lower temp switch, a VTR fan (reverse flow), or adding a second fan....

Hey, we must clarify something over here: 230° celsius is a total meltdown. 230° farenheit is normal, and equals 110° celsius.
104° celsius is the temp the fan turns on. It starts to flash warnings (as the forum stated) at 250-260 Farenheit (120-125 celsius)
Units are important. And the internet is a international place.
    So be clear please :)
Your instrument cluster looks ok, but check wires continuity with a polymeter. If that does not help send us a video turning it on to see what it does (should start filling all the display at first and then show values)

It's a US based site, I think it would be fair to say that most references to speed, mileage, or temps would be in mph, miles, and fahrenheit.

Did the slave cylinder tonight....flushed the system will clean fluid first. Look like butterscotch pudding lol. Sanded the rod with high grit sandpaper too. Waiting for the clutch master rebuild to come in still. Next the brakes, my wife will help me but I still gotta scour the forum for the proper procedure.

The Honda Service Manual has the procedure and it can be downloaded over at VFRDiscussion.com

Well.... R&R is here, just a waiting game for stator and other parts. Then to get her buttoned up.

You're doing good work there Nicholas, no matter what units you are working in!

Regarding your stator/connector/RR failure, my pet theory is that the root cause is most likely the failing connector; it corrodes, overheats, melts and then the conductors can touch. Don't cross the streams! So...instead of reinstating the original connector, many of us (me included) have hard soldered the connections and sealed up with heat shrink. Not as easy to unplug, but much more reliable.
