Have there strobe in the rear. Let me know how difficult it is to install for the headlights. Can you adjust how fast they flicker? Can do it on my brake lights

I have one on my BMW that a guy fabbed up for me 20 years or more ago. A light tap on the rear brake pedal and it cycles. Constant pressure and it cycles then stays on until the pressure on the brake lever is released. Bet you can find any combo of sequences you want by looking around. LED technology seems to make bigass leaps almost daily.

I was thinking to start doing this at every intersection as a precaution but after thinking it through some more, I deleted what I was about to post. I began to think, who all sees this flashing of the headlight? Others from the other direction who are not intended to be the reason they are flashed would see this too. And we all know what kind of assholes are out there and where some of these fukken turds are capable of taking this. Technically, here in BC, to arbitrarily flash your high beams in a manner other than using one of these modulators, is illegal. Section 4.06(5) Motor Vehicle Act Regulations of BC. I would be very surprised if police would take issue with your doing this but it is there.

One other thing that needs to be understood with modulators or flashing of high beams. If you are running HID lights, these modulators or practice will not work. They take too long to warm up to make a difference.
After market HID are illegal here too, and I suspect many other places as well.

Flashing of dim to bright lights or in daylight flicking the headlights on and then off is a signal that the gendarmes are in the vicinity and may be hiding in the bushes.

true dat. Many many years ago, that practice was illegal here too but not in my time. Illegal use of headlights. I would think it was a hard one to prove in court.

I was taugh whilst doing my advance motorcycle course. When approaching a junction if your unsure whether the vehicle has seen you is to do this. Move at a sharp angle swiftly from the crown to kerb and back again. That movement is more than likely to have the best chance of being caught in the peripheral vision. Yes you look like a dick doing it but I would rather that than be a hood ornament.

It's working on the basis of if you sitting in one position and there is a car behind you with lights on ( which most seem to have these days) you effectively look like the car headlight by moving you alter the light pattern and it is picked up by the eye. Obviously it doesn't work if they don't bother looking.

I have my thumb covering the air horn and a finger on the brake as a normal line of defense.

Better to keep your vision up and watch for wheel rotation as well.

The modulator isn't a "blink" or "flash", those are reserved for emergency vehicles and law enforcement. And yes, blinking or flashing lights are annoying (because they're meant to be).

The modulator isn't annoying because it gently throttles the headlight between 20% and 80% of its normal output. While it is very effective in its intended purpose of getting you noticed as you approach intersections and other similar danger points, the modulator isn't a constant assault on your eyes (like an emergency vehicle's or a law enforcement vehicle's lights are meant to be).

That said, I don't ride along with the modulator running when there's no danger from intersections or surprise left-hand-turning soccer moms.

Modulators and flashing LEDs aside, I'm not sure either would have helped that moron that pulled out in front of OOTV.

As they say, "you can't fix stupid"

Gendarmes are giving out pretty much the same message - if you move within your lane you are a lot easier to see against the background. As you say it still depends on them looking - but that is why covering the brakes and easing off the gas if you are uncertain someone has spotted your approach is a sound self preservation strategy.

Much to some others dismay I also found that riding with lights off also made me more visible.

This almost exactly what I have done for a very long time, I also cover the air horn. With 1 finger you can stand the VFR on its nose.

Had a drunk in a SUV ahead of me last weekend....I stayed **way** back....he was clearly weaving right and left.... crossing over double yellow into oncoming traffic at times, then doing the "twitch"...quickly reacting steering right. Clearly drunk and reckless.

This was at 11AM....was relieved when I turned off that road. Damn scary.

Of course, I frequently smell the pot smoke emanating from cages...these guys are usually slow to react and quite inattentive if not completely numb.

Jeez, save the booze and drugs for home.....

Ya' never know whats out there.
