Can a 190/50/17 replace the 180/55/17 on a 6th. gen? If so, what about clearance on the sides? Thanks.....

This question pops up from time to time so don't take my response wrong.

    DON'T DO IT!

180 is what the stock 6th gen takes; stick with it. I think a 190 can be stuffed on, but the bike will now turn in much slower and possibly casue 'other' handeling issues.

Of course it is your bike and you can do whatever you want, but there is no gain in putting an oversized rear tire on your VFR.

    MY 2 cents.

No, stick with the 180/55. If you try and put a 190 section tyre on a 5.5" wheel the profile will be pinched at the sides as the tyre is too big for the rim.

I doubt that you would get a tyre fitter to put one on anyway? They wouldn't risk being sued if you crashed.
