The drill & tap method is one of a couple ways to do the oil mod, "the best" way has been debated for a while, but I chose this option because it's how HRC did it on their race bikes.

I will be using the V&H headers, but not the cans. It took me quite a while to find them, good luck in your search!

Interesting thread and quality work done there no question. It takes a certain type of individual to do this really well and it follows no economic sense from a traditional viewpoint but.........
    Hats off to you sir

Does it give more pressure or volume than the adapter that goes between the block and filter maybe? I was going to go with the adaptor for ease of installation.

FYI - The F3 rear wheels are 5.0" wide, the F2's are 4.5". They work fine on the VF700/750/1000's but don't work on the 500's.

Yeah, remember that rear wheel you traded to me a while back? Well, it was an F3 wheel and.... bent like a mutha. Not just the lip, the whole thing wobbled on the balancer like you would not believe. Oh well, it would make a nice wheel for my SuperMoto dream....

Dude, it wasn't shipping damamge. This wheel was hit so hard that it's twisted hoop-to-hub. Bad too. You'd never be able to tell visually because there is no 'taco' spots or anything. As soon as you spin it on the balancer you can tell that it's awful. There's about 20-25mm runout at least.

    No biggie.

I bought that wheel on ebay shortly before trading it to you, had I know about this, I could have gotten my money back and sent that to you to make up for it. I remember asking the guy if he would guarantee the wheel being straight. Maybe that explains why the lips had been polished!

dang buddy, your going to give me a complex..

my 84 is undergoing a "Function > Form Resto" currently with help from Jamie D and Ebay; had I found a super low mileage bike with one owner I may have attempted something like yours, but mine is your run of the mill "rode hard, bent up and put up wet, needs TLC, third or fourth owner" bike.

My hat's off to you, waiting for more progress pics...

Aw, just do a little at a time, no need to go full bore! You can do little things here and there, and before you know it, that child in your avatar will be graduating high scholl, and you'll have an awesome VF to spend your time riding with...

    :cheersaf:

no lie on the little at a time, started fixing chaffed through wires while waiting for my ignition tumbler and lock set (thanks Ebay) and decided a new to me harness was in order, (yes that many pos PO pos botched splices and worn through spots) back to Ebay and 25 bucks later I'm waiting for that too...

now for a MAP gas bottle and solder for the lower rad support, I should be on the road next week or two unless I decide to redo all my work thus far for practice:rolleyes:
