    image.jpg Thanks boyz!
The only reason I took this bike (besides VFRW harassment) was it was a Honda. I have now seen shit rise from the ashes like nothing else. 8 Hondas and 1 air cooled Duc. No more ducs and only Hondas. :)

Does anyone recognize this plastic cover? Can’t find an image of my own or in the service manual. Kinda maybe to do with the coils, but didn’t seem to fit entirely. Roughly 5” x 3” with 1 mount hole.

And a Fender pic of porn reasons.

I have two VTRs disassembled right now, one 88 completely and one 90 starting to get big again.

I do not recognize that part at all.

    image.jpg image.jpg Thanks again!

ahh ha! Found a partial image in the manual. Looks more like a heat shield for its usage.

Basically metal infused JB+ fiberglass. I will then go to heat shield material for the final step. It looks like poo, but it was curing so fast I could barely keep up. Tomorrow I can test sealing of the tank.
The powder coat coat came out nice! I think the color is as close as we could get. RAL 5002 Nordic Blue.

12 hours past the cure time and we are testing for leaks. So far so good. 1.5 gallons of isopropyl alcohol.

I was not going to. I will let the new owner decide.

I did place some heat shielding over the epoxy to keep the temp down and look slightly better.

And I was a dumbass on the petcock. I cleaned it real well and put it together properly and it seems to work great! First time my Mighty Vac actually helped. Lol
Which is good because my eBay petcock is crap. Leaks from the switch seal.. thanks China. Oh and that little plastic guard near the coil is redirecting leaking fuel.. go Honda! image.jpg

The repair WILL fail eventually. In about 2 or 3 years.

I did a similar repair on a SL100 tank. Now I will be sealing it with Caswell.

Ok too many fumes. You must place the fuel tank rubbers correctly to align the petcock into the frame. Should be centered. The side loading was causing the petcock was leak when the lever selector was not centered. Make sense… the fumes! Lol

As part of my “ needs attention “ report I am listing professionally sealing the inside of the tank. Along with tires and brake lines.

Running off the fuel tank now! Time for a super ginger drive way test ride. These tires are oooooold.

good and bad. She runs great and scooots as one would expect.

bad, I think the front fairing stay is bent slightly so the bodywork won’t line up. Next weeks project.
