I have an '07 RWB Interceptor and would like to use my RKA soft saddle bags with it occassionally. I woud like to find some kind of heat shield material that I can attach to the mufflers / muffler shields so that I don;t melt the bags. I don't want to attach the heat shiled material directly tot eh bags since I use these bags on other bikes. I also have another bike with hard bags, so I'm not really interested in buying a set of the hard bags for the Interceptor. Do any of you have experience with any kind of heat shield device that would work as I have described? Thanks.

Do you have the factory pipes still. Those shields are sufficient to protect soft bags

    +1 on what randy said.
If you still don't feel comfortable. Go to Jeggs and get the adhesive backed heat shield material.

By all means, go with what you are comfortable with. FYI, in April I put on a brand new set or Cortech soft bags on my 6th gen with stock pipes complete with factory shield. I drove from home, to Atascadero, Ca, then to Victorville Ca and back home. Over 3200 miles in 9 days. The foam rubber anti scratch padding became warm to be sure but came no where close to burning or melting. But if you ride in hot climates, then of course this may be different, but I don't think so.

Marribs configuration will work for you. Lgn001 aslo has this configuration for his 6th gen as well and he swears by it.

THanks, I'm going to try it w/o any other shield first and see if that works.

I have the Cortec Sport bags. They have not melted. I ride in south Louisiana/Mississippi.
