Gorgeous, just gorgeous! Bike looks like it should have been made that way. Nice work all around. Interested in the head light. Can you actually see anything at night? Now go ride the wheels off of it and enjoy all the compliments your going to get.

Thanks. Not sure about the headlight performance cause I haven't had it out at night yet. It does seem bright in the garage. It still needs a final aiming. It's a projector beam with an H9 bulb. It's only low beam but I would guess it's brighter than the stock bulb's low beam. I have a way to make it both H and L with an HID kit that has a movable shield for Hand L.

I'm riding every chance I get. Temps are dropping here in New England but full leathers makes things toasty.

I have a few things to address this spring. Unexplained high idle. New thermostat. Fix the fast blinking signals(LED's blink fast for some reason). Rebuild the RC51 front master. Find a CBR1000rr clutch master. Get or make a clear wind shield. Add some foam to the front of the seat, next to the tank. Wax it. Start riding the snot out of it.

If the last point happens first, the others may not happen at all.

that was my problem. on my 3rd gen restoration I started riding the snot out of it and still haven't finished the decals and clearcoat like I intended.

Ha! You should see all the 95% completed projects in my house! I just can't get to that last 5%.

likewise. If I refinished a room, everything would be done except the trim sitting in a pile for 3 years.

But now I'm married so I don't know if I'll be able to get away with that any more.

    Electrics keep you going. ;-)

The LEDs require a special electronic flasher. The mechanical flasher for the stock setup relies on the resistance of the bulbs to trigger it at the proper rate, and the resistance of the LEDs isn't there. That is an easy fix.

The high idle could easily be a vacuum leak at the carb isolators if the carbs are properly set up. Crack open a propane plumber's torch (unlit) and run the end around slowly until the idle changes - that is where the leak is. Do this outside obviously. ;)

Don't wax it until the solvents have had plenty of time to outgas. The old rule was 6 months. I still use the old rule. If you wax too soon, you trap the solvents in the paint, and you will get tiny bubbles from "solvent pop."

I've heard that you can add a resistor in series with the signals. Do you know if that is true?

There are resistor kits at my local AutoZone, too.

Awesome bike man! What is the swing arm off of and how difficult was it to fit to your bike? Just wondering since the 1KR chassis looks like its based off of the VF750 chassis so i'm wondering if it is possible to mount the same arm on my bike.

Thanks. The swingarm is from a '91 VFR. It's not that it's prohibitively difficult to do, it's just that there are so many other systems to move, trim, machine, fabricate, or otherwise fool with that you must have all your ducks in a row to pull it off and do so safely. The arm itself is tricky and you need a machinist to do some parts but you also have to make a completely custom exhaust because the arm passes through where the rear pipes come down. Then there's shock placement and linkages. Battery, puke bottle, fuel pump and wiring relocation, modifications to the frame...The list goes on forever.

    Thanks.

Absolutely beautiful build man, that puts my VFR800 refresh to shame. Now if only I'd seen this sooner

    Sweet ride, enjoy the summer.

Hmmm Thanks for the info! Def something to give some thought to. I have a spare chassis from an '83 VF750F that has no engine that i may need to experiment on :vtr2:

P.S. hopit88 can you please clear out your pms? I tried to send you a pm about this and got a warning saying your pm box was full lol
