The PO of my 2000 VFR800 put on this custom undertail exhaust. It looks cool but I can't safely have a passenger because of the lack of clearance between the pipe and tire. I'm pulling it out and am offering for sale to anyone who wants it: $150 shipped (lower 48), can, heat shield, midpipe

    IMG_3338.jpg IMG_3342.jpg IMG_3343(2).jpg .

    Here are the main points:
Style: custom work, can is probably off of a 1000RR, not sure about mid pipes
Age: Probably only 3-7 years old. I can't say for sure but the PO put it on and he didn't have it for very long before I bought it from him.
Condition: the PO did a quick and dirty job at some of the mid pipe joints (ie: he didn't weld anything, just used clamps); He also didn't mount it very well: it was mounted by two bolts into the inner rear fender plastic that he chopped up. He didn't do a very good job. Anyone that really cares could do better. There are a few spots on the can and pipes where my tire rubbed a little when I had a passenger my size. Other than those few things, it's in decent shape.

Since I discovered the rub marks, I have not had any passengers. And that's why I want to get rid of this exhaust set up. I want the ability to have a passenger.

    Details:
--Without anyone on the bike, the smallest clearance is 43 mm.
--With the rider(me), weighing 180, the smallest clearance becomes 23 mm.
--With me and my wife as a passenger (me 180 + passenger 130 = total 310), the smallest clearance becomes about 7 mm.
(I have the original rear shock set to the stiffest setting)

I can give more details about size, diameter of pipes, more pics and a sound clip if anyone is truly interested in it.

I'll throw in the inner rear fender that the PO chopped up to make room for the can if you'd like, though I may have to ask for a little more to cover the shipping box size differential.

If only he would have done a better job. You can fix it just I would suggest a tail riser and moving the muffler up more but you probably so to the rear tail like mine. Even so I get rubbing if fully loaded with bags and passenger. I am running a 180 tire and could go back to a 170. I have a nice Carbon Fiber muffler waiting for me to fab it in place of the 600RR one

I agree that I could do a better job but even then I may run into the same problem, just like you experience some rubbing. I wouldn't feel totally safe with a passenger if I knew it was always still a possibility.

I hate to lose the sexy look of the undertail but my wife is sexy and with her on the back people won't notice the new exhaust.

Someday I may do my own undertail exhaust, but for now I want to get rid of this particular set up.

I lowered my asking price to $150 shipped. I'll really consider any reasonable offer so shot them my way!
