Is there any way of tightening the pivot that the glass bit attaches to?
I've only gotta fart in the general direction of one of mine and it's pointing at some random place!

    Cheers.

Save your gas, there is a little plastic button you pop out to access hex bolt. Caution don't over tighten so mirrors won't move when bumped hard or if bike decides lie down and sleep.

Cheers Allyance. Didn't make my self clear - the head part containing the glass. There's a ball type joint - one of mine is a bit loose.

Maybe there is someone else that has had this problem.

One idea is to take some contact cement (rubber cement), apply small around ball joint and swivel mirror to get some cement under mirror part, adjust mirror to desired position, and let dry. Take some lighter fluid (benzene) and clean up excess cement on outside.

Went and looked at mine, I think a couple drops of Lock Tight might work better.

These things are disposable so chances are you are looking at $88.36 for a new Honda part :(

Or about half that for one of the EMGO ones.

Couple of drops of locktite is a lot cheaper, worth a try till you get replacement.

eBay has knock offs for cheap. Glass quality is the same as OEM.

You could try heating the plastic with a heat gun and popping out the mirror. Another forum member did it to add a display under the mirror glass.

Don't know if you'll find anything inside that ain't outside of course!

Or a small screw parallel with the ground. You will still be able to pivot up and down a touch but fore/aft will be adjustable via the mirror arm itself.

Lighter fluid is mostly naptha and can contain up to 1% benzene as opposed to benzine.

The better solvent for contact cement is toluene.

Some of the Loctite products contain shellac dissolvable in alcohol or nitrocellulose lacquer dissolvable in acetone or common lacquer thinner. LockTite is sort of like Bondo .Many different types for different uses.

You are right, many years ago I think it was more benzene, you can Google the MSDS on any chemical. I keep a can of Zippo lighter Fluid around for getting labels off and cleaning up contact cement, comes in small can, easy to dispense.

Best way to remove bumper stickers and other labels is with hair dryer, by heating up label/sticker to maker adhesive pliable, then clean up residual with solvent of choice.

My mirrors are pretty stiff due what looks like mineral deposits, just thought he could do same with common materials.

Maybe a good scuffing with a coarse strip of sandpaper? Just note the area hidden when in proper position for riding, bend it to expose that surface and scuff away.

Maybe a Dremel tool could create the right scuffs or a razor heated with a lighter to melt and expand the hash marks?

If nothing else it's more "bite" for your epoxy of choice.

If you end up buying a new mirror, you might consider some knock offs. I bought a genuine Honda replacement last year for my 07. When I got it, it had all the appropriate markings but unlike the non-broken side, now made in Taiwan and the optics were piss poor compared to the original OEMs. I'd imagine the knock off quality of optics atleast, would be similar.

Not sure why this would be, maybe Honda has several sources and I just had a bad draw.

Thanks for all the chemical warfare suggestions!

I'll don' my lab coat and breathing gear and have a go later. If there's reports on the news about a chemical explosion in a small town in the UK later - you know I've made a bad choice!!

I'm sure there's a little 10mm nut that needs nipping up laughing at me behind the glass!

    Cheers

    Rob.
