Just got my vf1000F cams back from Colt Cams, he did a nice job on them. This place is a good alternative to MegaCycle, only $368 Canadian for the regrind and Parkerzing. Should be good for another 50,000km. Now I just need to find one more decent rocker so I can put it back together.

Awesome to see. Seems pretty reasonable pricing.

I have no motorcycle experience with them but they ground my accord cam and were great to deal with and wonderful about answering my questions.

Yes, he seems like a good guy to deal with... and the Canadian dollar keeps dropping so his rates keep getting cheaper !!

This may be a silly question for some...can you get performance cams for a bike like you would for a car?

Yes, unless the bike is a two stroke or one of those bikes that plug into the wall. Hot cams are even out there for Harleys. Some can increase the horsepower to as much as 50. Here's one source:

If you think your VF needs hot cams, you need a different bike. The bike's plenty fast as it is, and cam mods almost always sacrifice power at one rpm to boost another, mid or top. Extra lift is always good, within calculated limits, but doncha think Honda
knew what was best ?? Hot cams often require different valve springs and impose greater loads on components.

For many years, the VFR had detuned cams in the California motors. I wouldn't go out of my way to throw money after cams if mine were working fine. But if I NEEDED new cams then I would absolutely consider a different configuration. That's just me.

Holy shit if I could get 4 cams reground to performance specs for $297 US I am in!
And being that this is a vtec engine, I could have the heads ported/polished (to flow enough to match the top end requirements of the bigger cams) and milled (for more compression to bring the bottom end torque back up) and do the primary lobes on standard rc45 specs and the VTEC lobes a little hotter. That would result in no low end loss, more mid range and a lot more top end! :eek:nthego:

Hi, yes the cams worked great. The profile is the same as stock and the guy from Colt says it was the best profile of all the early v4's. Not sure about using the magna cams on your engine. I'm sure they would fit but I imagine the profile would be ground for a different powerband. Don't have my Interceptor any more, moved on to a new project. I'd recommend Colt Cams, they do nice work. But of course it's hard laying out a lot of dough on something that isn't worth a whole lot. Good luck.
