Is the stator wiring really suspect?

    The letter code (SH or FH) tells you the type of design. SH are the older Shunt-type RR, which dissipate a lot more heat and hence have a shorter life. The FH is a MOSFET design which produces a lot less heat and so should have the longest life.

    And as has been stated, don't use the connector because eventually it will fail. If somebody still made a bakelite connector this problem would not keep happening, until then solder and heatshrink seem the best option

    The wiring is fine but the connections tend to fry.

    My generation 4 has been running fine with a Pentium 4 fan on top for a couple of years. No sign of the fan burning out.
    Also check the three phase wires regularly since cleaning them up and tightening the blade connectors. All look good so far.
