    Hey Allyance

Did the higher power H4 bulbs you installed here have a cooling fan installed or just the larger heat sink?? Also, is the heat sink removable to get the larger rubber gasket in place or did you have to modify the gasket in some way??

No cooling fan, just a large heat sink.

I had already trimmed the dust cover for the Cree's, I just trimmed a little more for a snug fit around heat sink.

The fans on the H7's don't worry me, as they aren't on very much, but with the H4's on all the time, I could see those little Mickey Mouse fans not lasting very long.

They appear to be aimed low, left more so.

Allyance, thinking of getting the same COB LEDs in H4 for my 5th gen. How would you compare their lighting over stock? Any reliability or other issues since the install?

So far so good. After playing with 3 different manufactures, they are brighter, whiter, but I don't think their pattern is as sharp. When you think of it, the filaments in stock lamps are almost a point source and reflectors are optimized for them. The COB LED's are mounted on a larger diameter stalk and have a larger area that emits light. I haven't been out too much in the dark, but do like the instant on and white light. I also think I have to re aim lights for difference in design.

I tried it once on another vehicle, it can burn up the wire unless you have sufficient gauge to carry double current.
Or did he add another wire?

lol Yeah I looked it up. Any new reports of the Cree LED swap? I find that it is only about 50 now. I have been running Sylvania Ultra, but probably should do the upgrade and use less current. I am a fan of LED and use it in the RV. It made a huge difference when I swapped all the 12V lights on it.
